When Pope John Paul II visited America he gave a press conference. One reporter asked how the Pope could account for allocating funds to build a swimming pool at the papal summer palace. He responded quickly: “I like to swim. Next question.” He did not rationalize about medical reasons or claim he got the money from a special source.A recent study has shown that people would much rather follow individuals they can count on, even when they disagree with their viewpoint, than people they agree with but who shift positions frequently.
